How to Understand Webflow Pricing?

"Discover Webflow Pricing: Find the perfect plan for your website effortlessly with our guide.

12 min read

Let’s face it, Webflow is great; no doubt about that. It’s probably one of the best and easiest SAAS solutions out there; at least compared to its competitors. However, as good as it is, the pricing plan is pretty confusing. There are tons of options to choose from and these pricing options can be nerve-wracking.

And that’s where we do our ‘thing’. We’ve been experimenting with Webflow for a long time now. No wonder we get lots of queries from readers on how to understand Webflow pricing.

Today, we’re going to tell you all the pricing details IN THE EASIEST WAYS POSSIBLE.

Plus, we’ll also discuss why Webflow is a great option, give you a good justification for it carrying a hefty tag AND which pricing plan is the best for you.

One thing’s for sure  — after reading this blog, you won’t have any questions on the pricing plan of Webflow. We’ll keep it as simple as possible.

First Things First..Don’t Mix Things Up!

People tend to mix up the main types of plans with the pricing plan. It’s ‘plans’ all over the place after all. We’ll go slow with this to give you a clearer idea. Get these inside your brain.

The Main Plans: Or should we call them the ‘Parent Plans’? There are basically two types.

Site Plan: This plan is divided into two sub-plans.

  • General Plan
  • E-Commerce Plan

Workspace Plan: This plan is divided into two sub-plans.

  • In-house team
  • Freelancers and Agencies

Site Plan

A site plan is basically site hosting. You can build a personal blog website, a niche website that falls under the general plan. Or, you can try building an e-commerce website. The site plan is divided into two sub-plans.

1. General Plan

It’s basically what we call a general website without any e-commerce feature. Meaning— if you want to go for your personal website, blog niche website, or any non-e-commerce website, you’ll have to go for the general site plan.

Webflow General Plan

In such cases, Webflow comes with four different pricing plans. Now, we’ll go for the discussion. But here’s a table for a quick peek.

a. Starter Plan

The plan is completely ‘on the house’. If you want to create a site out of curiosity, just to see how it goes, or let’s say for some casual ‘giving-it-a-try’, this plan is for you.

But then again, like every free thing, the plan has its limitations.

You’re Getting —

Plan

Price per Month

Domain

Number of CMS Options

Number of Form Submissions

Bandwidth

Guest Editor

Starter

Free

Custom Domain

50

1 GB

None

b. Basic Plan

If you want to come out of the free-zone closet, the very first step you can take is to go for the Basic Plan. It will charge you $18 a month and you can have a few extras that you’ve missed in the Free Plan. These include —

Plan

Price per Month

Domain

Number of CMS Options

Number of Form Submissions

Bandwidth

Guest Editor

Basic

$18

 Custom Domain

None

500

50 GB

None

Yep, there’s this drawback though. You won’t be able to use any CMS option here. And you definitely know that having CMS on a paid package is pretty important.

Now, you might be like — ‘Wait, what?’... ‘I get CMS on the free plan but not on a paid one?’

Well, it is just a marketing strategy. Webflow is offering CMS features on the free plan because they want explorers to get the taste of the CMS feature of Webflow first, and get along with it. Once they like it, they’ll have to choose a CMS plan anyway.

Now, this plan is only for those who want to start a simple website. However, for this major turndown in the basic plan, users usually go for the CMS plan.

c. CMS Plan

The CMS plan will cost you $29 per month. As the name of the plan says, you’re getting CMS here along with other features that come with some good additions. The plan includes —

Plan

Price per Month

Domain

Number of CMS Options

Number of Form Submissions

$29

Custom Domain

2000

d. Business Plan

This is NOT FOR YOU unless you own a giant website and have a great investment backup. The plan will charge you $49 for some obvious reasons. It has got features like —

Plan

Price per Month

Domain

Number of CMS Options

Number of Form Submissions

Bandwidth

Guest Editors

Business

$49

Custom

10,000

2500

400 GB

e. Enterprise Plan

It’s more like an ‘on-demand’ version of the Business Plan. You can customise the features according to your needs. Of course, Webflow is going to charge you more according to what features you’re taking. The general features are —

Plan

Price per Month

Domain

Number of CMS Options

Number of Form Submissions

Bandwidth

Guest Editors

Enterprise

On Discussion

Unlimited

10,000+

Custom monthly form of submission

Custom Bandwidth

Along with these features, Webflow provides an Uptime SLA by making sure your websites and web apps hosted on their platform are available for a specified percentage of time. They will do this by monitoring, reporting, and taking compensation measures.

Which Plan Should You Go For?

Look, if you’re confused about what you’re going to need, you might just try the Free Plan. This will give you the big picture on all the know-how. Now, if you think you should go for a Paid Plan, we don’t think the ‘Basic Plan’ is any good.

Why? It’s because there’s no CMS option. This put together with the other features (which obviously aren’t that lucrative anyway) is not worth spending $18 for.

So, if you want to go for a Paid Plan, you should start with the CMS Plan. At least you’ll have CMS items, and that too a whopping of 2000 items. Not to mention the other lucrative features. So, what you’re getting at $29 per month carries more value than what you’re getting at Basic Plan, spending $18 per month.

In a nutshell…

Try Free Plan

Try Basic Plan

Try CMS Plan

Try Business Plan

Enterprise

For those who are exploring things for the first time

For those on a tight budget and can compromise CMS items too

For those who have a moderate budget and need CMS items as well.

For those who own giant websites and a good investment to run a business

For on-demand service. Recommended for those who are running multiple businesses

Is It Too Expensive?

Yes, it is more expensive than a ton of options out there. However, it’s completely worth the money. You see, you’re not just paying for hosting here. You’re also paying for

  • The amazing design capabilities Webflow shows off
  • The incredible Webflow dashboard
  • The editor; and you can hop into it quickly and update text and images
  • Not to forget the CMS function, which surely is INCREDIBLE.

But Hey, You Can Save Up To 22%

A smart way to cut down your price is to buy the yearly bill. In that way, you can save up to 22%.

Here’s the yearly bill breakdown for you —

Plan

Basic Plan

$14 per month

CMS Plan

$23 per month

Business Plan

$39 per month

2. E-Commerce Website

Creating a usual blog website is something; an e-commerce website is something else. It’s a different scenario. Now, Webflow has got a good grip over the e-commerce know-how. If you want to make your e-commerce website successful, you definitely need to go for a plan that gives you the maximum space for e-commerce items, cms items, features, etc. Webflow tried to bring great value for money here (at least, that’s what they say).

Webflow E-Commerce Website plan

a. Standard Plan

So let’s say you’ve just started your new business and the customer base and the products you have are quite a few. You can try the standard plan by paying $42 per month.

You’ll get —

Number of E-Commerce Items

Number of CMS Items

Number of CMS Plan Features

500

2000

All

But tell you what…

The major drawback of this plan is that you have to pay a 2% transaction fee. What’s worse is that you probably have to collect your payment through a third-party platform like Stripe. If that happens, you’ll have to pay a price for that as well. That’s a lot of money as a whole. So, if you don’t want to lose a lot of money, you can go for the Plus Plan.

b. Plus Plan

Yes, the price is pretty much twice the standard plan; $84 per month. But then again, you’re getting every other feature twice as much as well. You’ll get

Number of E-Commerce Items

Number of CMS Items

All Business Plan Features

Transaction Fee

5000

10,000

Included

0%

The best part about this plan is the fact that you don’t have to pay any transaction fee in this plan. All the money you get in your pocket stays in your pocket.

c. Advanced Plan

This is just somewhat of a bigger version of the plus plan… Well, sort of. When Webflow first launched the plan, there was a significant difference between the Plus Plan and the Advanced Plan. However, recently, it has updated the price. You’re getting almost similar features as the Plus plan while there’s an increase in the number of e-commerce items. You’ll get —

Number of E-Commerce Items

Number of CMS Items

All Business Plan Features

Transaction Fee

15000

10,000

Included

0%

Is It Worth It?

While the site plans are pretty much incredible from Webflow’s end, we think they still need to work a bit on the E-commerce pricing. But yes, if you need to use any plan from Webflow right now for your e-commerce business, we recommend going for the Plus Plan. It doesn’t have much of a difference from the Advanced Plan when it comes to features while the pricing has a sky-high difference.

You Can Save Up to 30%

An annual payment would be a smart way to cut down the price and that too up to 30%. If you pay annually, the price you’re getting is —

Plan

Price

Standard Plan

$29 Per month

Plus Plan

$74 Per month

Advanced

$212 Per month

Workspace

This is the place where you collaborate with your teammates, clients, etc. to design a site and customize it. You can drop elements, and add texts, videos, and images, according to your demand. To bring the best out of your workspace, you can try the different plans from Webflow.

As we’ve mentioned before, Webflow has designed pricing plans for

  • In-House Team
  • Freelancers and Agencies

Here’s what you need to learn

1. In-House Team

The in-house team parent plan is divided into 3 different plans.

a. Starter Plan

This plan is for those new freelancers who are planning to form a team in the future and want to explore Webflow. You can try out the starter plan yourself first, obviously free of cost. Once you think you’re good to go, you can include your team and buy a paid plan.

Starter Plan Offers —

Number of Users

Paid Hosted Sites

Number of Webflow.io Staging Sites

Number of Agency/ Freelancer Guests

Number of Commenters

1

Unlimited

2  (Along with 2 pages per site and 50 CMS items per site)

2

2

The Best Part?

Even though the plan is free of cost, Webflow has done a tremendous job here. Unlike a lot of platforms out there, you can share your login with your teammates. As long as one single team member is using the account every time, you won’t face any problems.

b. Core Plan

Now, if you already have a small team and you need to include multiple people in the account, you can try the core plan. Webflow will charge you $28 per month for this. The features are —

Number of Users

Paid Hosted Sites

Number of Webflow.io Staging Sites

Number of Agency/ Freelancer Guests

Number of Commenters

3

Unlimited

10 (150 pages per site, 50 CMS items per site, custom code, site password protection)

2

10

Along with all these features, you’re getting some extras here. Such as  —

  • User roles & permissions (Design vs. Edit content)
  • Code export

c. Growth Plan

This plan has increased its number of users while keeping a lot of features ‘unlimited’. If your team is growing, the growth plan is a good shift. The most important part is that you’ll have to pay $60 per month for this, which is pretty much a good deal for what you’ll get. The features you’ll get are —

Number of Users

Paid Hosted Sites

Number of Webflow.io Staging Sites

Number of Agency/ Freelancer Guests

Number of Commenters

9

Unlimited

Unlimited ( 150 pages per site, 50 CMS items per site, Custom code, Site password protection

2

10

You’re also getting  —

  • User roles & permissions (Design vs. Edit content, Publishing permissions)
  • Code export

Save up to 32%

By purchasing an annual plan, you can save up to 32% just like that. In this scenario, the price range will be the following.

Price

Plan

Core Plan

$19 per month

Growth Plan

$49 per month

2. Freelancers and Agencies

You’ll get 3 different plants to start with

a. Starter Plan

Webflow has kept the starter plan here pretty similar to the starter plan of the in-house team we discussed a while back. It’s free and you’ll have 1 user access. Plus, you can share your login as well. Altogether you’re getting  —

  • 1 user
  • 2 staging sites on webflow.io domains
  • 2 Agency or Freelancer Guests
  • 2 free commenters

b. Freelancer Plan

If you have a small team, you can try this plan out. The plan will cost you $24 if you go for a monthly-based bill. The features you get are —

  • Up to 3 users
  • 10 staging sites on webflow.io domains
  • Full CMS access on staging sites
  • Free guest access in client Workspaces
  • Basic roles and permissions
  • 10 free commenters

c. Agency Plan

It’s more like the growth plan we talked about earlier; only cheaper. To handle multiple clients, the plan has its advantages. You can have —

  • Up to 9 users
  • Unlimited staging sites on webflow.io domains
  • Full CMS access on sites
  • Free agency/freelancer guest access in client Workspaces
  • Advanced roles and permissions
  • 10 free commenters

Save up to 33%

Going for the yearly bill is a wise move here. You can save a lot of money. If you purchase a yearly plan, you can get the following price range.

Plan

Price

Freelancer Plan

$16 per month

Agency

$35 per month

Which Plan Should You Go For?

This is the part where you have to decide things on your own according to your homework. Now, we have already talked about it earlier while discussing the price plans. But here’s everything in a nutshell.

For General Site Plan:

If you have to go for the site plan, as we’ve stated earlier, go for the CMS plan. The basic plan doesn’t have CMS, so we don’t think it will be a good choice.

For E-commerce:

The standard plan only gives you space for 500 e-commerce items. Plus, you’re getting only 2000 CMS options. Most importantly, you’ll have to pay a 2% tax; this is a bummer. The Advanced plan is expensive but it doesn’t have much of a difference compared to the Plus Plan.

So, if you can live with 5,000 e-commerce items for a starter, you should stick to the Plus Plan first. Once your business gives you the expected revenue and you need to increase your e-commerce items, you can go for the Advanced Plan.

For In-House Team/ Freelancers and Agencies (BOTH):

In all cases, the free-plan has given good value here. Speaking of paid versions, the plans don’t have much of a big price difference. Both the core plan and the freelancer plan are more than enough. However, if the team becomes bigger, you can try the growth plan and agency plan.

Here’s One Thing We Didn’t Talk About At First..

…but we’re discussing it as we are wrapping things up. If we talked about it first, it might get you more confused.

You’ve already seen free plans under each parent plan.  Now, there’s one ‘Separate’ Free Plan that gets activated right away after you join Webflow. This is not the free plan that you get under each parent plan.

Once you sign up for Webflow, they give you these free templates and a tutorial on how to make a free website by using the free plans under each parent plan. You can call it somewhat of a present for you just because you’ve signed up for Windflow.

If you want to get these free tutorials and templates, you can sign up for Webflow today.
